How we collect, use and look after your personal information.

In short: we only collect what we need to help you, we never sell it, we keep anything about your faith confidential, and you can ask us to see, correct or stop using your information at any time by emailing [email protected].

Who we are

iERA Australia is the operating name of United Dawah QLD Inc. (ABN 50 474 039 055), a charity registered with the ACNC. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean iERA Australia. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

Your name, email address, phone number and state or suburb.
Your answers on our forms, for example the program you want to join, your delivery address for a free Quran, or your availability as a volunteer.
Answers about your faith, if you choose to give them (for example that you are interested in Islam or have recently become Muslim).
Records of donations you make: amount, date and whether it is one-off or monthly.

Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Why we collect it

To deliver the free services you ask for, such as a free Quran, an Islam 101 chat, New Muslim Support classes or a mentor.
To coordinate volunteers, dawah stalls, training and events.
To process donations and send receipts.
To send you occasional updates and appeals. You can opt out at any time.

We only use your information for these purposes, or for a related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where the law requires it.

Sensitive information

Information about your religious beliefs is sensitive information under Australian privacy law. We only collect it with your consent, you never have to give it, and we keep it confidential. It is only seen by the iERA team members and trained volunteers who need it to support you.

Who we share it with

We never sell, rent or trade your information. We only share it with the service providers who help us run our work, and only as much as they need:

our contact management system (CRM), where your details and form answers are kept;
Stripe, which processes card and direct debit payments;
our email and SMS providers, which deliver our messages to you;
postal and courier services, when we send you a Quran or a welcome pack.

Emails, texts and unsubscribing

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. To stop texts, reply STOP. You can also email [email protected] and we will stop sending you updates and appeals. We will still contact you about something you have asked us for, such as a Quran delivery or a monthly gift.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored in secure, password protected systems. Access is limited to the people who need it, and we delete or de-identify information we no longer need.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are worried about how we have handled your information, please email [email protected] first and we will look into it and reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
